The Guggenheim House
Palm Springs, California
The 2800 square foot interior of The Guggenheim House has been completely reimagined by the creative team of Grace Home Furnishings, a top design firm with offices in Palm Springs and Los Angeles. The furnishings capture the sexy mod sensibility of the late 1960s with a nod toward the present and the way we live today. Contemporary furniture has been combined with vintage pieces and accessories to create a uniquely Palm Springs experience.
Upon entry to the foyer a glimpse through a decorative screen reveals the open floor plan of the house, with its gracious dining and living areas, along with vistas of the pool and mountains outside. The formal dining room, next to the gourmet kitchen, features seating for eight around a circular table. A more casual breakfast nook seats four for a more casual experience.
The formal living room is flooded with natural light and hosts views of the mountain range and palm trees and is focused around the original pass-through fireplace. On the other side of the fireplace is a relaxing den that features a 65” HD TV with Apple TV, Sonos, and a game cabinet. The multiple seating areas are a perfect solution for families and other large groups, offering separate gathering areas for relaxation and conversation.
The master bedroom, at the back of the house, opens up onto the patio and mountain views, but also features decorative blackout curtains for sleeping in or an afternoon nap. The 65” HD TV features Apple TV, and the bedroom also includes a Sonos audio system – controllable through one’s phone -- through recessed ceiling speakers. A massive built-in closet and luxurious master bathroom, with dual sinks, is en suite. The bathroom opens up to the side of the house and the outdoor shower, so guests may choose to use the shower/tub combo inside or the alfresco shower.
Guest Room 1 (“The Blue Room”) and Guest Room 2 (“The Gold Room”) each features a king-sized bed, 49” HD TV, ample closet, and access to patios protected with vintage brise soleil blocks. Guest Room 3 (“The Triangle Room”) is on the other side of the house, near the den, and includes a queen-sized bed, 49” HD TV, and access to a private patio along the south side of the property. There are two bathrooms for the guest rooms: The bathroom for The Blue Room and The Gold Room features dual sinks and shower/tub combination with direct access to the outdoor shower on the north side of the house. The bathroom for The Triangle Room features a standing-shower and is just off the den.
